Diogenes Laertius records a remark of his namesake, the Cynic philosopher Diogenes of Sinope.

ἐρωτηθεὶς πόθεν εἴη, “κοσμοπολίτης,” ἔφη.

On being asked where he was from, he said, ‘I’m a citizen of the world.’
